I liked the vid of the indoor aerotow, looked nice and smooth. So the deleted vid is of the this very tug flying with one wing?? I'd like to see that vid, wherever the right place may be  :''

I've got a Multiplex Mentor I'm going to build as a tug, 80A esc and to run on 4S or 6S depending on the motor I use,  looking for about 1000/1200 watts should be good for towing a decent sized glider!
Just waiting for the weather to improve to give me the incentive to get my finger out!
I think.......I think I am........Therefore I am. .....I think!

Thought you might be interested in the Blackhorse Wilga as a tug. Build/review here.
Very nice to fly indeed.

I ended up with a HK SK3 3548 820kv motor with an 80A ESC, about 750 Watts on 4S - not completed yet need to get some 4S packs to try it out - going for a 11 x 8 prop for initial trials, or may try 3S (which I've got) on a 13 x 7 prop for about 650 Watts.

SpeedsterDEN

Big size and low pitch give the hard pull.
13 x4 is the prop that we use for the Funcups and Mentor towplanes.
So think about that size too.

New toy collected today....
This will be my first 'real' tug (stoppit all you Frankie Howard fans)
I must get out more...

SteveBB

Taylorcraft?  Wasn't the designer the designer of the cub, but parted company to make sumfink better? Looks better too.  :af
Rimmer: Step up to Red Alert!
Kryten: Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb.

Bustergrunt

Indeed and yes he did...very interesting story (I think anyway)
I must get out more...

So, in order to enable my Tug to tow, I have to install a tow release...
I thought I'd try something different as the Graupner tow release is not available anymore.
So I looked at what was available and decided that the prop driver for an electric motor might be a good starting point.
I filed a slot in one side and then spent more time smoooothing it all out.
I then made up a ply box to install it in...
I must get out more...

Bustergrunt

...and here it is installed in the plane...

I must get out more...

After towing many large gliders, my Funcub finaly got a free ride. ;o)

More Fun cub

And a new cheap plane from Hobbyking
Bushmaster
A bit larger than the Funcub and running on 4 cell.
160$ and ready in 2 hour, and perfekt for towing light thermal and foam gliders.

And even soaring at the slope

Or DS it  :D

How about this for an unusual tow plane

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/98825752[/vimeo]

Tow hitch connected behind the cockpit (i.e. about half way back to the tail plane) using velcro.

We did use my E Flite DH Beaver which was much better, but unfortunately a broken power wire (due to fatigue) cause the end of that.

We have an Amply under build for the larger stuff.

Towing for beginners
